Nothing smells better than apples simmering in the slow cooker. Seriously guys, this is my favorite homemade applesauce recipe. Not only is it the easiest thing to make, it tastes like heaven.

Instructions

0 Roughly peel your apples. I peeled about 75% of each apple, leaving some skin. This is optional. You can leave the peel on or off.
1 Chop your apples into 1 inch chunks and put it in the slow cooker. Add lemon juice, water, cinnamon, and nutmeg into the slow cooker with the apples and combine well.
2 Cook on high for 3-4 hours until the apples have been broken down. They will still partly be in chunks but it will be very soft. Use a potato masher and mash until your desired consistency. Or you can just stir it until you get a smooth consistency. The apples will break down even more.
3 Let it cool and enjoy!
4 You can store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 4-5 days. Mine definitely did not last that long though.
